Expert Engineering is happy to announce that we launched successful the Pipe Lay Barge “Leighton Eclipse H 098” on the 9. June 2009.

The contract between LEIGHTON CONTRACTORS (SINGAPORE) PTE LTD and PT EXPERT-ENGINEERING was signed in August 2008.

The purchase started directly, so that the production could start in the end of September 2008.

The Pipe Lay Barge has a length of 130 m, a breadth of 32 m with a height of 8,5 m and a draft of 5,9 m.

The Barge is produced under ABS Class with notation +A1 (manned) for unrestricted service. The job of PT Expert-Engineering was to finish the hull from the bottom up to main deck level. For the total weight of around 5600 T it takes 4200 t steel. PT Expert-Engineering started that project in the end of September 2008 and finished the Barge in the end of May, within 8 month.

In the production process 3 subcontractor where involved, CV AN-NUR, PT BOS, PT MMJ with 80 person per day such as fitter, welder and helper.

There are 13 different piping systems installed by 2 subcontractors, PT EE and PT MMJ. The beginning of the installation was on the 2. January 2009 and the finishing was in the end of May, within 5 month.

The painting part was made by PT Expert-Engineering itself by using Hempel paint started on the 2. April 2009 and the finishing was also in the end of May, within 2 month.

PT Expert-Engineering is very happy that Leighton gave us this prestige project Pipe Lay Barge and we are proud that we could pass all the high quality standard controls to fulfill their trust and finish the project within 8 month.

This Barge is the queen of the barges. It is produced under a very high quality welding standard.

This Barge is the largest of his specification which ever was produced in Batam and it is developed for carrying very heavy equipment and materials under very strong sea condition, because it is coming into operation mostly in the very open sea. 

That’s why it was absolutely necessary to produce that project under a very high quality standard with a strictly and high welding procedure standard. PT Expert-Engineering used the welding systems:

• SMAW (manual)
• SAW    (automatic)
• MIG           (automatic)
• FCAW  (automatic)

We maximized the automatic welding systems to guarantee that high quality standard. The normal Welding Procedure Standard is +- 15. PT Expert-Engineering passed 43 wps.

All these special points based on the above average very high quality standard needs personal and equipment with extraordinary knowledge and specialized skills.

PT Expert-Engineering proofed that we are able to provide all this above factors to insure the high quality standard with the successful launching on the 9.June 2009 at 10am Batam time.  The amazing launching of the Pipe Lay Barge “Leighton Eclipse H – 098” was supported by partners, colleagues, friends and family.
